Architects will envision the future of an abandoned area of Zalgiris stadium

Architects explore redevelopment ideas for the former Žalgiris stadium site in Vilnius.

HANNER and the Lithuanian architects’ organisation arranged a workshop on 15–20 July 2015 to explore the future of the former Žalgiris stadium grounds.

Five architectural teams selected in an earlier round were asked to consider development density, parking, public spaces and the relationship with surrounding neighbourhoods. The brief sought a district that served residents and contributed to the emerging centre on the right bank of the Neris.

A public discussion was scheduled for 27 July at the architects’ organisation’s offices, giving Vilnius residents an opportunity to respond to the proposals.
